If you’ve ever updated Bixby before, chances are your device will have already updated to the new software. You can check by opening Bixby settings, scrolling down to About Bixby, then checking the version number next to Bixby Home and Bixby Voice. You should see the screen shown above, and it will tell you whether or not you’re running the latest version. If you’re not, it should give you the option to update. So how do you do that, and how do you set up Bixby to automatically update if it has not already?
- Open Bixby settings. To do so you’ll either need to launch Bixby Home by tapping the Bixby key or swiping in from the left of the home screen, or if you’ve already turned off Bixby Home, bring up the Bixby Voice assistant by pressing and holding the Bixby key. If you’re looking at Bixby Home then tap the three dots icon at the top right and choose Settings. If you’ve opened Bixby Voice then tap the settings cog at the top of the screen. Either way, the screen you see should be the same.
- Scroll right to the bottom of the Settings menu. Here you will see the aforementioned ‘About Bixby’ option. Just above this you will also see an option to auto-update Bixby – enable this.
- It’s worth pointing out that if you’ve never updated Bixby before on launching the app you might get this pop-up telling you an update is available. Tap Update to continue.
